Chad Meyer has been going to the races since before he could go to grade school. After spending more summers than he can remember either chasing races or lending a hand to Burt, IA late model and IMCA modified hot-shoe Bob Weber, Chad has been directly involved in the auto racing industry since 2002.
He began his employment in the racing industry as a racing radio show host for the Algona, IA radio station KLGA 92.7 FM. Presently, Chad is the show host and producer of four live racing radio shows. The programming includes the Thursday Schaeffer Oil Hour of Horsepower, the Friday night Fertilizer Equipment Specialists Trackside Live show from the Hancock County Speedway in Britt, the Saturday Morning Race Report and the Saturday evening Monson Salvage Trackside Live show from the Algona Raceway.
Chad began his race announcing career at the Britt speed plant during the 2003 Night of 1000 Stars race. Presently he is track announcer at the Britt and Algona tracks and has also announced events for the United States Modified Touring Series and the IRA Sprint Car Series.
His photos and racing stories have appeared in the Algona Upper Des Moines newspaper, Hawkeye Racing News, the IMCA member newsletter, and several racing websites.
Chad recently created DirtTrackRadio.com to highlight local racing heroes in North Iowa and Southern Minnesota and as an avenue to showcase the sponsors of his racing radio shows.
He graduated from North Iowa Area Community College in Mason City, receiving an Associate of Arts Degree in 1991. At Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, he majored in Agricultural Business with an emphasis in Sales and Marketing.
Upon graduation from Iowa State University, he accepted employment with Land O’Lakes Feed as a Livestock Production Specialist. Chad was named the Land O’Lakes Western Iowa Feed Sales “Rookie of the Year” in 1994.
In 1997 he left Land O’Lakes Feed and joined MaxYield Cooperative as Feed Mill Manager/Feed Department Manager.
Chad accepted the position of Member Relations/Communications Director for MaxYield in 2000. He is responsible for advertising, the company’s contribution/donation program, board of director relations, strategic planning and coordination of numerous MaxYield employee and client functions.
In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family, attending Iowa State University football games, collecting vintage racing photographs and attending races.
