Night of 1000 Stars Champion Rich Lewerke

Rich Lewerke was forced to qualify for the 30 lap feature thru the B-main after being docked two spots for rough driving in the heat.

Hear Lewerke talk about the heat race, making the show and only hoping for a top 10 finish.

He got a lot more than just a good finish...he passed Jeff Feaster late to win his first Night of 1000 Stars championship.

Rebroadcast - Fertilizer Equipment Specialist Trackside Live from the Night of 1000 Stars in Britt

Emarklogo1 KLGA 92.7 FM was on hand at the 13th Annual Night of 1000 Stars at the Hancock County Speedway. In this rebroadcast of the Fertilizer Equipment Specialists Trackside Live show, we preview the big Thursday race in Britt.

First on the show was 14 year old B-mod racer Brett Moffit who talks about his big win at Knoxville during the Harris Clash and his first trip to Britt. Also on the show we talk with IMCA mod racer Ron Pope about his return to Britt.

We wrapped up the star-studded program with 2002 Night of 1000 Stars champion Keith Schmitz. We also talked with Hawkeye Racing News columnist Karl Haglund...who was working on a behind the scenes look at Schmitz's night at Britt.

Hall of Fame Trackside Live from Algona Raceway

Saturday August 4th  at the Kossuth County Fair Races was Hall of Fame night at the historic speedway. In addition to a big field of race cars...the 2007 inductees into the Kossuth County Fair Racing Hall of Fame were inducted.

While the ceremony took place at intermission, the Monson Salvage Trackside Live show caught up with some of the legends before the racing action started.

We had the privilege of speaking with former racers Jim Edgington, Les Wildin along with Leo Christensen's daughter Merry Simpson and a member of his crew, Max Dahlhauser.

Hear their thoughts on racing, the bonds they formed that still bind today and what it means to be inducted into the Kossuth County Fair Racing Hall of Fame.

Rebroadcast - Monson Salvage Trackside Live from Algona Raceway

The Monson Salvage Trackside Live show from Algona Raceway on Saturday July 28th featured a conversation with Mike Schroeder of Lone Rock. Schroeder tells about his first career feature win at Fairmont Raceway the night before and how he now has no plans to retire.

Also on the program is a great interview with 2007 Harris Clash champion Clayton Christensen. Hear him break down his magical night at Knoxville and how his luck turned south two days after the big win while racing at Algona.

Rebroadcast - Schaeffer Oil Hour of Horsepower from the Harris Clash in Knoxville

Harris20clashff2006 KLGA 92.7 FM and the Thursday afternoon Schaeffer Oil Hour of Horsepower packed up and headed south to the 16th annual Harris Clash at the historic Knoxville Raceway July 19th.

In this rebroadcast of the Hour of Horsepower, we first talked with race promoter Bob Harris about this year's event and what has made this perhaps the top (or very near the top) IMCA modified race in the nation.

P1010065 After speaking with Harris, we spoke eventual race winner and Algona Raceway regular Clayton Christensen from Spencer. He talks about why Knoxville is so special to him and his family. He was so eager to race at Knoxville early in his career...he raced his B-Mod against the IMCA modifieds...just to say he raced there.

Next we caught up with Ames driver Pat Graham. He talks about running with both the USMTS and running regulary with his IMCA modified.

To conclude the program, we spoke with Algona Raceway and Hancock County Speedway regulars Jeff Nielsen of Pocahontas (fresh of his first career win in the IMCA mods) and Dakota City's Jeff Feaster. Feaster talks about how Kelly Shryock has influenced his career.

National Sprint Car Hall of Fame

Prior to the Harris Clash at Knoxville Raceway, we catch up with National Sprint Car Hall of Fame Executive Director Tom Schmeh.

We discuss current exhibts in the HoF, what it takes to keep the preservation of racing history alive and what the future holds for the NSCHoF.
