Algona's Greg Hilbert writes DirtTrackRadio.com to tell of an exciting recreation project of his Dad's 1957 stock car.
Greg writes that the car shown is driven by his father Shiney Hilbert in 1970 or 1971. This car was powered by a 454 CI Chevy with 3 deuces on top.
Greg is in the process of recreating this very car and reports that since starting the project in January 2008 it is already a rolling chassis with cage and is just about ready for some paint.
He says he has really enjoyed gathering parts and information about the car. If you have any photos or information about this car...Greg would love to hear from you!
Greg says he will keep us posted on his progress.
hello i was on shineys pit crew and will tell you all we ran a 427 L88 short block with aluminum open chambered heads 3duces set up with a magneto for spark. the fuel pump only pumped air to the tank for fuel pressure.we had a corvette oil pan with a lengthed oil pick up to help supply engine properly.had special headers that were one piece back to in front of rear tires.had so much power that wehad transmission wired into 4th gear.rear end was a 9inch ford that we would change pinion and ring gear ever week for different tracks.we had a lot of fun and really miss old shiney also he had a toad painted on the upper right corner of trunk because all the racers called him the toad. with great respect ron baas.
