Officials with the Kossuth County Fair (Algona, IA) have announced that the 2011 fair races will feature an increased first place payoff in all classes. The event will be held Saturday night August 6th.
Racers will be competing for $1000 to win in the IMCA modifieds, $700 for IMCA Stock Cars, $400 to win in the IMCA hobby stocks and SportMods. Cruisers will pay $200 to the winner, and the hornets first place cash will double as well. All feature winners will earn the traditional six-foot tall fair race trophies.
The winner of the IMCA modified main will have their name added to the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot in 2012.
The support of Doocy Repair of Lone Rock, IA will make the increased purse possible. Mike and Barb Schroeder, owners of Doocy Repair, stated they wanted to help the fair create even more excitement for the annual event.
“One of the cornerstones of the Kossuth County Fair each year has been the fair races. We are excited to be back as a sponsor of the night,” Mike Schroeder said.
“This is a big event already, with the big trophies and the hall of fame ceremony, and having the racers compete for an increased top prize should make this even more entertaining for the fans”.
The fair races will start with the annual Kossuth County Racing Hall of Fame “reunion” at 5:00 p.m. Hot laps will begin at 6:30 p.m. with racing to follow. The hall of fame induction ceremony will take place during a short intermission after the qualifying heats.
The evening will also feature a “Salute to Veteran’s” theme. All United States military veterans are invited to attend the special event and will be admitted free to the grandstand.
